From what we get to see of Jem as a child, he is an ENTP. When he is denied the prospect of going along with Bertie Shakespeare Drew to see the tattooing, he goes into a Ne-Fe loop. He becomes overly sensitive to what he perceives as everyone’s opinion of him, and he uses his Ne to generate ideas to make them care, to make them take notice of him. There are basically two paragraphs just devoted to “S’pose he …?” While his Ne-Fe loop is mainly evidenced in this chapter of Anne of Ingleside, his Ti aux is explained in Rainbow Valley, where he is said to have insatiable curiosity to understand the world around him. Jerry calls Jem the squarest boy in the Glen; Jem is popular and friendly and impartial in decision-making. Jem really cares about the people around him, such as his mother. He has a well-developed Ti-Fe axis as well as a well-developed Ne-Si axis. He loves hearing stories of the past that he uses to create games for himself and his friends. In Rilla of Ingleside, we don’t see as much of Jem’s character as before; he does have ESTP vibes, which is perhaps why he is typed as an ESTP, but he appears so little it is hard to know for sure, and he still seems to maintain the Ne-Si axis of his childhood.
