[1/2] Sam Dean is an 𝙀𝙉𝙁𝙅. Edit: the show was cancelled! :( This analysis will contain references to multiple episodes from the first season, so if you haven’t watched yet, be mindful! First, we have to remember that Daybreak was cancelled a while ago, so analyzing Sam based only on the first season is challenging, especially since she was shown to multi-layered and somewhat unstable. But that doesn’t mean we can’t identify patterns in her behavior and draw some conclusions. This will be a brief and simple analysis based on her scenes, dialogues, and character information. - About her Fe: Sam has always been the “Sorting Hat” of her school, with a real skill for making others feel included and important. To me, she’s always seemed like a classic SO2 or E2 stereotype. However, unlike someone who acts solely for surface-level harmony, Sam has an emotional complexity that few people truly see. While most perceive her as the popular, laid-back, and accessible girl, she has a hidden depth—a duality between her desire to maintain a “nice girl” status and a real longing to explore more authentic relationships. A key characteristic of Fe is the drive to create or maintain harmonious conditions in the surrounding environment. For instance, Fe may define something as “beautiful” or “good,” not based on a subjective judgment, but because, according to the social situation, it seems appropriate to act that way. It’s not about faking or being hypocritical; it’s a genuine expression of outward-focused feeling, adapting to objective social criteria. And that’s pure Fe. Sam’s behavior reveals a strong focus on others. In the mall scene, this is even clearer. She says she believes people deserve praise and that everyone has something worth noticing, as evidenced by how she goes around complimenting people, getting to know them and making them feel special in her own way. She isn’t overly focused on status, as she mentions afterward, because she struggled with the backlash of the video and felt bad with every negative comment. Her intent was genuinely to make others feel good, simply because she likes doing it. Her actions at the end of the season weren’t entirely her own choice; the public pushed her there. Her charisma and likability allowed others to paint a favorable picture of her. And seeing the chaos, Sam took advantage of this and stepped into a leadership role at the end. Her pursuit of authenticity is not an indicator of Fi. ESFP doesn’t fit her well. Though Sam does seek authenticity, she seems more focused on aligning this authenticity with the standards and expectations others have of her, using her Fe to navigate these social spaces and to network. While she has an inner need to be herself and show confidence, her quest for authenticity is still strongly linked to a need for external validation and maintaining her image. This pulls her into an internal conflict with her repressed Fi, which doesn’t get to fully express itself. This “blind Fi” leads her to pursue authenticity in indirect and ambiguous ways, without fully distancing herself from what others expect of her. For example, her clothes and style might seem like a personal expression, but they’re more about attracting acceptance and aligning with what her group values. This behavior distances her from a true Fi profile, as she’s not deeply absorbed in internal and exclusive ideals. Instead, Sam acts in a way that molds the group and herself according to what she believes will benefit collective harmony and acceptance—even if that means sidelining part of her true self to sustain that harmonious image. "— But that's not me, Josh." "— I don't know who I am." Now I will explain her Ni! (Just go to the replies to se the another part).
