New typing: INTP Retracted: For him there's a moral, right way of using knowledge and learning knowledge, independent of its utility, even neglecting its utility. His motto is very much learning and knowing for knowledge's sake. That's highly S(T)J although ISTJs r even more prone to pure (concrete) knowledge. ESTJs try to apply it much more due to Te hero while Te parent isn't as much concerned with its application (although it usually is to some extent but we can ignore that for now) Gathering knowledge from everywhere is very Te as well since Ti is more abt using knowledge to progress, create something new, understand things and not just know them, etc. Now, the dude who locked himself in (the Professor from Ba Sing Se) is much more of an INTP than he (Wan Shi Tong or that big owl) is since he's more interested in learning stuff to progress the current knowledge, create new, etc. (but that might very well be sheer speculation on my part, though it certainly appears that way) He isn't interested in using the knowledge for anything and that's not much of a pragmatic point of view which INTPs r highly prone to. NTs have generally have such views on knowledge Also, STJs r also very likely to be academically inclined, especially with knowledge of all sorts. They don't necessarily care. I think for that they don't get enough credit. Most academics r STJ or NP actually since Se-users r much less inclined toward an academic career (but stating the whole reasoning would take too much time and characters to write haha; I could elaborate in the comment section at another time) Now u may ask "Well, where's his Fi?". The answer is when he replies "[a]nd I'm protecting what's dear to me!" to one of the group or something like that. Maybe I should paraphrase it but whatever. We get direct interaction (commanding from the beginning and stating the rules -> Si directive) and affiliative + systematic temperament/behavior from him. That already suggests STJ. Since he's more likely to respond than initiate/dominate/start/engage in social interactions, he must be an ISTJ conclusively. Also, ESTJs r more abt planning smth out while letting his cathedral of knowledge disappear as more of a rash decision instead of a very well-thought-through plan ISTJs r very moral ppl actually (see Ed Snowden, etc.)
背景
Wan Shi Tong is known as the great knowledge Spirit, which takes the form of a large black barn owl with a white face. Wan Shi Tong created the Spirit Library to house his ever growing collection of knowledge, and brought it to the mortal world so that humanity might benefit from such wisdom. However, eons of seeing humans abusing his knowledge for the sake of conflict has turned Wan Shi Tong to ban humans from his library for their misuse. When the Gaang arrive there, Aang promises not to abuse the knowledge they gain from the library, but they quickly go back on their word when they learn about the Fire Nation's vulnerability during a solar eclipse. Wan Shi Tong decided enough was enough and took his library back to the Spirit World while simultaneously trying to kill the Gaang for what they did.
