I'd like to preface this by saying that each and every character has an extraordinary amount of potential and talent and is in their own way beloved for their worthwhile charisma and intricate creation as an original character... On that note, Carl is an idiot. Carl is in no way a braggart, but he thinks he knows how the world works but in reality he believes anything he hears... and his attention span is garbage, so he hears very little. That translates to a ludicrous amount of gullibility stuffed into one head. Carl comes up with fantastical reasons as to why things work the way they do. 9/10 he's so far, just so incredibly far off the mark from what's true. (He believes potato chips are just potato flavored and not actually made from potatos) He lacks a lot of common sense and would actually dismiss a really strong pokemon just because he doesn't like the look of it.
