Euphemia "Effie" MacLachlan, a graduate from the illustrious University of Cambridge, was first seen in the The Last Autumn cinematic trailer. Aiming to prove her worth in a world dominated by men, she joined the Imperial Exploration Company as an Engineer. Effie is one of the many engineers who were deployed to Site 107 to work on one of the most important projects ever: the construction of a Generator, one of 3 such sites that intended to serve as evacuation sites for the citizens of the United Kingdom in the face of the coming global winter. Effie's team was working on the Generator for the city of Liverpool. In The Last Autumn, she and a group of other engineers can be discovered by sending foragers out by Site 113 after the completion of the Pressure Valves and Tower Pumps. They are the only group of survivors after The Core of the Site 107 Generator exploded, killing all the other IEC employees at the site. Euphemia foresaw the disaster, but due to her relative inexperience she was ignored by her superiors until it was too late. She and her team offers to join the construction efforts at Site 113 in the hopes that she can prevent the same disaster from befalling it too.
