(1/4) I'm not a fan of the ISFP e4 trend going around many profiles - it feels like major justifications are limited to a broad understanding of the main functions without addressing the weaker ones thus making a character feel like they have this 'cookie cutter' kind of character personality layout. Use of a lesser function in a stack doesn't correlate to how often it is used, but it's efficiency in correspondence to how it behaves in the dominating position. I have replayed all of V3 to dive into this in order to understand people's votes, but all evidence points to the current majority of the profile. In this case I believe that voting Maki as a Te-inferior doesn't make sense and by looking back at her inferior function explains much of her behavior. Beforehand I’d like to mention that I’ve noticed the tendency to disregard the argument of someone being a Si-dom if the main premise is attachment to their past. It's obvious that Maki's background influences her tremendously but the people accusing tend to forget that it's an introverted function and doesn't manifest itself in an external 'easy to see' way than an extraverted function would. Hence, I will not dive into this specific argument and will focus on Maki’s other points of thought and behavior, now briefly mentioning her magnificent sensory memory and applying her expertise and theory to class trials. By the end of the game Maki goes into full inferior Ne spirals and it's shown several times not only during trials. Given her cool and collected attitude she should have no problem acting irrationally, right? The truth is that inferior Ne is incredibly destructive and impedes the desired behavior. Going by the Jungian definition: "The intuition is applied to the outer world, creating outer possibilities. Largely excited by scenting new possibilities." This is the contrary of Maki's behavior at the time and fits the description of inferior Ne too well. Maki does not seek new possibilities; in fact, she rather denies them for her own comfort. I’m really not a fan of the “Se is what you see” argument because it’s extremely broad and you can apply this to essentially every other function if you use enough words. How can you justify that you’re not referring to Te in your case? After all, Se and Te are both similar in nature with the main premise being taking in information ‘as is’ and then creating a framework based on that knowledge. In fact, I believe that Se <-> Te is one of the most common mistypes in MBTI. Te is a ‘matter of fact’ but Se is ‘realistic’. Rigidness versus fluidity. Se perceives, Te judges. Information gathered from Se is raw information while Te will determine the best cause of action in a given case, determined by your other functions depending on what is it that you have in your stack. Trial 5 presents the interaction between aux Te/tert Fi really well. Nevertheless, I’d like to start by clearing up the misconceptions between the two and giving examples of Maki’s Te in play. A Se user, going by definition, will treat sensation as the purest reality. They may even become so obsessed with said reality that they will have a hard time using past sensory experiences to lead for more than a singular experience, which contradicts Si that Maki often displays. While both Te and Se are ‘hands on’, Se values performing something for the sake of enjoyment whilst Te is like that ‘because it needs to be done’. But a more specific wording of the given situation, that being auxiliary Te or Se, the latter doesn’t fit. Aux Te is focused on task-oriented decision-making, but Se motivates the user to engage with the external world and explore physical experiences – they’re more creative and adventurous in behavior. This phenomenon applies not only to Se but also Fi dom/aux users as their desire to stand out is one of their main drives in life. ISFP’s aren’t called the most intuitive sensing type for no reason. Maki is none of those things, she sticks to facts and what she already knows, preferring security over identity.
