𝙺𝚊𝚘𝚛𝚒 𝙼𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚣𝚘𝚗𝚘 𝚒𝚜 𝚊 𝚂𝚇7 I wrote this argument because I’ve seen a few people suggesting E2 for Kaori recently, so I’d like to give my two cents on it. SP2 makes no sense for Kaori… they’re a subtype that desires pampering and privileges. There’s literally a section in Naranjo’s E2 book mentioning how SP2s have a ‘need to be seen’ when they are experiencing illness. They want to cared for and doted on, and being sick provides an opportunity for them to ask for things without feeling as vulnerable for being ‘needy’. No SP2 would hide the reality of their terminal illness like that, that’s a 7 escaping reality and SX Dominant 7 fusing and getting one last exhilarating high from connecting, inspiring and deeply idealizing someone before they die. The act of avoiding the painful reality of terminal illness up until the very end is a very E7 thing to do. I strongly dislike this recent trend I’ve seen of people typing SX7 characters, especially women, as SP2 or SX2. Here’s the translated text from Orgullo: ⠀⠀⠀”Conservation Two, on the other hand, needs you to come see him, to be pampered; there’s a fear of being left alone in his illness. His contacts lack more than the other subtypes. This adult who goes out into the world as a child feels less capable, more insecure, he devalues more easily and shows himself more needy. Express more openly the need for him, allowing himself to claim and protest more than the sexual Two and the social one, more self-sacrificing and resistant.” The image triad argument I’ve seen for her misconstrues what an image type is. Kaori’s motives don’t have anything to do with status, validation or acceptance like an image type. Her motivations are all about handling her own fear during the last time she has to spend on earth. SX7s are fully capable of lying or withholding truths from others, even about their identity if they believe that the truth could sabotage the potential for connection (another good fictional example of this is Aladdin faking being a prince to charm Jasmine since he believed the truth of his status would prevent them from connecting). That’s because 7s want to keep ALL options open at ALL times. They want to feel fully free and unrestricted, and sometimes lying or rationalizing is the way of achieving that, from their perspective. Kaori likely knew that since she was nearing her time of death, Kosei would hesitate to let her near him for fear of being hurt. Withholding her illness from him or pretending to have certain traits was to achieve the end goal of quickly connecting to him while she still could, and doing whatever she could to inspire him and leave a lasting impression. She had a beautiful wish to help him be himself again. It was all part of her clever plan to lie about her identity and illness. She wanted to inspire him the same way he did for her. Her character was completely operating from the potential she could see in others, specifically Kosei because she’s a sexual dominant. Kaori fits the ‘enchanted charmer’ archetype of SX7 so well. She’s a beautiful and I’d say healthier example of the subtype, given she made a positive impact on Kosei’s life overall (even if some people disagree with her decisions, that’s fine). A SX7 caricature, through and through.
