I think Vergilius is an ISTP with exceptionally well developed Ni and Te This is my overall personal take based on everything from Leviathan up through Canto IX, so it might contain spoilers for both Library of Ruina and Limbus Company. Vergilius feels like an ISTP with highly developed Ni and Te. Looking at his narrative arc, he seems to operate on Ni and Te. That is because he follows the flow mentioned by the Purple Tear in Library of Ruina, going beyond simple sensory intuition to read the grand scheme and irresistible tides of the City. His actual ability revolves around dominating insight, which he utilizes remarkably well. In Chapter 16 of the web novel Leviathan, he mentions that ignoring the chill creeping up the back of his neck has never brought good results. It felt like an eerie, inescapable pressure, as if something were sitting on his shoulders pointing out which direction to take. He called this the flow. Throughout his career as a Fixer, that pressure gave ever stronger and clearer directives, and he noted that perhaps it is just accumulated experience bursting forth like instinct in moments like these. As for whether his secondary function leans toward Te or Se, I think this shows in his perspective on the City. He previously shared his purpose with Roland, leading Roland to consider him one of the most dangerous Fixers in the City. He joined Limbus Company not simply out of attachment to the past, but to bring back Garnet and Lapis. In Leviathan, he harbored a dangerous ideal that could not exist within the current order of the City. However, looking at his inferior function, there is not enough evidence for it to be Se, making inferior Fe a much more reasonable conclusion. This is especially true given how easily hurt and surprisingly soft-hearted he is underneath. With his tertiary Ni standing out so prominently, my conclusion is that he ultimately fits ISTP best.
