First of all, this site is not for us to vote on the personality they got on the test or what they think they are. It’s meant for academic discussion. They are young boys and, they can have variations in the way they will think and act, but at this age identity is already starting to become clearer, and it’s based on this that I will base my vote. Since the first vlogs, I’ve wondered why the members chose him as the most difficult to deal with, because the way he acts isn’t like the others made it seem “difficult/immature.” He is actually one of the most mature members of the group. He typed himself as an INTP… but what is an INTP? INTPs are curious, inventive, always have new ideas (which matches him in...), but they are also extremely analytical, very logical, procrastinators with extreme lack of action. Translating this into cognitive functions, Ti combined with Ne creates a person who lives in the world of ideas, since Ne is the most imaginative of the extroverted functions. Alongside this, Si brings memory of past incidents and an inferior Fe keeps them distant from people. They have almost childlike social interactions, can’t read the environment well, and are not concerned with the well-being or feelings of others ( F- ). This is the complete opposite of what Seonghyeon is. It became even clearer in recent days, as his actions show he is highly attentive to others’ feelings and empathetic, he even cries just from seeing someone else cry. Hyeon is also extremely active, he always acts to help others, even if it means not putting himself first. This is completely opposite from INTP cognitive functions. Now, I’ll explain each of his functions with examples of his own actions in vlogs and released content. Hyeon is not just shy, but genuinely quiet ( I ), and doesn’t seek many social interactions outside of those close to him. He doesn’t naturally initiate interactions ( I ), but when he identifies a situation that requires it, he immediately takes action ( Fi–Se ). Even though he is quiet, he has a strong sensory appeal ( Se ); things that are too hot, too cold, very textured, or extremely spicy have a big impact on him ( LA vlog ) and make him complain. He is also a music prodigy; his ideas, even if they seem nonsensical at first ( Ni ), always end up in the final version of the project, becoming key parts of tracks (pre-debut documentary). It’s no wonder Martin loves working with him. He perceives the world in a creative and unique way, sees what could work well ( Ni ), is participative and attentive ( Se ), and makes decisions authentically with admirable morality ( Fi ). Seonghyeon was raised like an older brother to a little girl, so we can see his values ( Fi ) in how he judges and makes decisions. In the last vlog (Time to Debut), you can clearly see Fi operating in his mind and how he acts quickly. For him, it is morally correct to be empathetic ( 2 )! When someone can’t get into the pool, he immediately helps (BTS Lullaby); when they can’t operate the washing machine or ramen maker ( LA and Chuseok vlogs ), even with things he doesn’t know how to do, like tying a bow, he takes the tutorial and tries until he succeeds to help others ( Fi–Se ). He focuses his energy on others ( 2 ) and connection with close people ( sx ), though he doesn’t compromise when something goes against his beliefs ( Fi ) or physical limits ( sp ), being the one who complain when uncomfortable (BTS WYW Conceptual Performance). Most of the time, when provoked, he doesn’t react or fight back (Martin mentioning him not being able to use the kite or Keonho pushing him); he remains calm. A mature and strong ( Fi ). He also desires to be admired and recognized ( 3 ), likes having fans, seeks validation and success (Martin mentions him looking at himself in the mirror). He has a personal style and aesthetic sense he likes and uses regardless of others’ opinions (ISFP). He lives in the moment without much thought for the future (brings few underwear on trips), leaves packing to the last minute ( P ), is sensitive to others’ feelings ( F ) (James and Juhoon crying), acts practically to complete tasks ( S ), and usually thinks before acting ( I ). In my analysis, he is an ISFP 2w3 sx/sp 295 phlegmatic–sanguine. He has the same MBTI as Juhoon, but their personality sets make them really different. I also left a comment for him.
