He was highly idealistic and had high goals, but mostly, he wanted to get free from his dominant mother, who constantly corrected him and his endeavors. He idolized Frederick the Great, his mother's sworn enemy, and was himself an enlightened monarch as well. Joseph II attempted to change his country and tried to adopt many new laws, as he did not approve of the conservative traditions or Catholic gravities. He was actually highly intelligent and contemplative as he warned his sister, Marie Antoinette to "be aware of the revolution." He was also one of the few people who actually was aware of Louis XVI's intelligence. After a long conversation, he was actually quite impressed with his seemingly incompetent, meek brother-in-law's knowledge. Despite all this, Joseph II never got to be an emperor as successful as his mom or Frederick, whom he worshiped. He also was faced with marriage blues as well. The love of his life, Isabella of Parma(his first wife) never loved him and secretly shared an affair with his own sister. His only daughter, whom he doted on, died young, leaving him bereft and broken. His second wife was ugly and obviously quite dimwitted, and he was so disgusted that he never even bothered to show respect towards her. Well, this guy sure had a tough time..., fighting to outshine his mother all his life but never achieving that goal, and never being loved by the true and only love of his life...,

ชีวประวัติ

Joseph II (German: Josef Benedikt Anton Michel Adam; English: Joseph Benedict Anthony Michael Adam; 13 March 1741 – 20 February 1790) was Holy Roman Emperor from August 1765 and sole ruler of the Habsburg lands from November 1780 until his death. He was the eldest son of Empress Maria Theresa and her husband, Emperor Francis I, and the brother of Marie Antoinette. He was thus the first ruler in the Austrian dominions of the House of Lorraine, styled Habsburg-Lorraine. Joseph was a proponent of enlightened absolutism; however, his commitment to modernizing reforms subsequently engendered significant opposition, which resulted in failure to fully implement his programs. Meanwhile, despite making some territorial gains, his reckless foreign policy badly isolated Austria. He has been ranked, with Catherine the Great of Russia and Frederick the Great of Prussia, as one of the three great Enlightenment monarchs. His reputation as an enlightened monarch was somewhat legendary.
