The hollow, socially-programmed self of the Narrator was something he wished to slowly eliminate. If he had been successful, the line separating Tyler from the Narrator would have vanished, eliminating the need for the "Tyler Durden" persona. — Tyler, though, acknowledged his failure towards the end of the narrative. Tyler's quest to free himself (himself) was perceived by the narrator as a hostile takeover of his mind because he continued to strongly disagree with his intentions. He never fully realised that Tyler Durden represented his true nature. He mistook the "myself" he thought he was experiencing for a phoney personality that society had implanted in his mind. — This is actually the movie itself. It proves how the 2 personas of The Narrator failed to understand each other's motives due to the inferior functions. Here, I have explained how Tyler prefers being present & cares less about intuition. I don't understand how Tyler can be an inferior sensation user. ———————————————————— [ 𝐒𝐞 ] — ᳃ ℂ𝕒𝕣𝕝 𝕁𝕦𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕟 𝕊𝕖 : ๏ ɴᴏ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ʜᴜᴍᴀɴ ᴛʏᴘᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ᴇϙᴜᴀʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇxᴛʀᴀᴠᴇʀᴛᴇᴅ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴛʏᴘᴇ ɪɴ ʀᴇᴀʟɪsᴍ. ʜɪs sᴇɴsᴇ ғᴏʀ ᴏʙᴊᴇᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ ғᴀᴄᴛs ɪs ᴇxᴛʀᴀᴏʀᴅɪɴᴀʀɪʟʏ ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴇᴅ. ʜɪs ʟɪғᴇ ɪs ᴀɴ ᴀᴄᴄᴜᴍᴜʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏғ ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟ ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇs ᴏғ ᴄᴏɴᴄʀᴇᴛᴇ ᴏʙᴊᴇᴄᴛs, ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴘʀᴏɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴅ ʜɪs ᴛʏᴘᴇ, ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴇss ᴜsᴇ ᴅᴏᴇs ʜᴇ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴏғ ʜɪs ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇ. ɪɴ ᴄᴇʀᴛᴀɪɴ ᴄᴀsᴇs ᴛʜᴇ ᴇᴠᴇɴᴛs ɪɴ ʜɪs ʟɪғᴇ ʜᴀʀᴅʟʏ ᴅᴇsᴇʀᴠᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴀᴍᴇ "ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇ" ᴀᴛ ᴀʟʟ. ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʜᴇ ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇs sᴇʀᴠᴇs ᴀᴛ ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴀs ᴀ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ ᴛᴏ ғʀᴇsʜ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴏɴs; ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ɴᴇᴡ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴄᴏᴍᴇs ᴡɪᴛʜɪɴ ʜɪs ʀᴀɴɢᴇ ᴏғ ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴇsᴛ ɪs ᴀᴄϙᴜɪʀᴇᴅ ʙʏ ᴡᴀʏ ᴏғ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴀs ᴛᴏ sᴇʀᴠᴇ ɪᴛs ᴇɴᴅs ๏ sɪɴᴄᴇ ᴏɴᴇ ɪs ɪɴᴄʟɪɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇɢᴀʀᴅ ᴀ ʜɪɢʜʟʏ ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴇᴅ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ-sᴇɴsᴇ ᴀs ᴀ sɪɢɴ ᴏғ ʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ, sᴜᴄʜ ᴘᴇᴏᴘʟᴇ ᴡɪʟʟ ʙᴇ ᴇsᴛᴇᴇᴍᴇᴅ ᴀs ᴠᴇʀʏ ʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ. ʙᴜᴛ ɪɴ ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟ ғᴀᴄᴛ ᴛʜɪs ɪs ɴᴏᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴀsᴇ, sɪɴᴄᴇ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴀʀᴇ ᴊᴜsᴛ ᴀs ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴇʀᴄʏ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴏɴs ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ғᴀᴄᴇ ᴏғ ɪʀʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ, ᴄʜᴀɴᴄᴇ ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴɪɴɢs ᴀs ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴀʀᴇ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ғᴀᴄᴇ ᴏғ ʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴏɴᴇs. ———————————————————— ★ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞 : — Tyler doused The Narrator's wet hand in lye. Despite the severe pain, Tyler screams at the narrator to keep his cool. Tyler tells the Narrator that he will eventually pass just like everyone else as he writhes in pain. The narrator makes an effort to think of his “happy place.” ⦁ 𝐓𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭. The narrator recalls learning about ancient human sacrifices committed by the Celts while studying in Ireland (𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐢) Tyler says, “𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫; 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐞”. ⦁ “𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠” ⤷ A great example of “ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇs sᴇʀᴠᴇs ᴀᴛ ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴀs ᴀ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ ᴛᴏ ғʀᴇsʜ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴏɴs” ⤚ In essence, it means that after you've reached your lowest point or your rock bottom, there is nothing left to live for and you may do anything since you have nothing left to lose. This is one rule all the Se dominants live by. ———————————————————— — The idea of Fight Club is also very much based on Extraverted Sensation's needs. It wants you to be a unique person who is perceived, heard, felt, and who acts in accordance with his/her needs, wishes, and aspirations. —— Conclusion, Tyler Durden is an ESTP. [ — E N D — ]
