[My usual disclaimer: My typing method incorporates concepts from the Cognitive Type system. While CT is Jungian-derived, it does not share a 1-to-1 relationship with standard Jungian systems.] I believe that Chernabog is a mythological representation of an ENTJ with a I-II function development (conscious Se and Fi, encompassed by dominant Te). A lot of the information below is drawn from Cognitive Type's articles on functional behaviorism and mythology. Each function's mythology has both light and dark aspects to it. Mythological Te is represented by the archetypal figure of the King (or Queen), and the dark version of this archetype is the tyrant king. I think this archetype fits Chernabog the best; he is, first and foremost, an external articulator pulling all the causal strings from a place of singular, sadistic dominance. He is also representative of the dark mythological aspects of Fi. Light Fi archetypes are your typical Disney princesses, as well as figures such as fairies and sprites. Dark Fi is best represented by demons or witches – figures capable of tapping into some kind of evil life force and using it to corrupt and destroy. Although I wouldn't say that Chernabog represents the Se archetype (the Trickster) as directly as Te or Fi, he certainly is channeling the function's archetypal character. This seems obvious from his general focus on improvisation, movement, and aesthetics, as well as the sensual energy and frenzied nature of most of the segment. Dark Se is also oriented towards vulgarity: CT: "When the spirit of [mythological Se] is instead dark, the more chaotic aspects of the trickster archetype arise. Here the trickster wants nothing to do with authority, and will go out of his way to defame that which the establishment holds dear. The individual may enjoy instigating a shock factor, and do so as a way to throw the finger up to the man." While Chernabog doesn't embody Ni directly, there is a connection to Ni insofar as his actions are cyclic, taking place once every year (Deems Taylor says before the segment that it happens every Walpurgisnacht). Cyclic and karmic themes are usually associated with Ni, whereas Si themes involve a more embedded, unchanging context.
Biografia
Chernabog is a demon featured in the "Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria" segment of Disney's 1940 animated feature film, Fantasia. He is based on the God of the Night in Slavic mythology. At Walpurgis Night (the Witches' Sabbath), he emerges from the peak of Bald Mountain to summon all of his minions, who dance furiously in tribute before being thrown into the mountain's fiery pit. His reign comes to an end with the morning sunrise, and the sound of church bells. Described as “Satan” by host Deems Taylor, Chernabog has been praised as Disney's best representation of sheer evil, and as animator Vladimir Tytla's greatest success. As a very "raw" representation of evil, he is not placed in the context of any real story. Furthermore, he and his minions' actions are not committed in pursuit of any discernible goal other than general tyranny. Some other media has attempted to give his character a more concrete context.
