Ah yes, another reserved, cool guy protagonist being mistyped as an ISTP. Ok, sorry for being rude, but Arthur Morgan is not an ISTP, but an ISTJ. Also, this may contain spoilers, so beware. Arthur's entire character screams dominant Si, as he always thinks of his past events in his journal and cutscenes, and bases a lot of his decisions on his experiences. He sticks with his gang and outlaw life because that's what he knows best, and is afraid of the unknown and change, also referring to inferior Ne. He's more focused on the practicality behind things, and doesn't like to accept changes he feels are ineffective, such as high government control and irrationality. He's not an open minded person, unlike ISTPs who are much more accepting of new concepts and ideas than ISTJs. Arthur's Fi is well developed however, as he does have a strong moral code, believing that he should only kill those need killing, and leave the rest be (unless you choose to ignore this and kill everyone in Saint Denis). He cares about his gang immensely, but this is not Fe, as he is not harmonious, and believes others should look out for themselves and their close ones. He doesn't care for what is socially acceptable, and instead does what he feels is best and in line with his beliefs, one again showing Fi instead of Fe. He has a lot of emotions and feelings, but keeps them to himself and his journal, only telling a couple people about his true self, which isn't easy for him. He gets easily bothered when seeing others hurt innocent people for selfish reasons such as Micah in Strawberry or Dutch killing Cornwall, and tends to have a black and white worldview. Despite Arthur having well developed Fi, he's not a feeler type, as he relies more on logical thinking, specifically Te. He gets irritated when people make stupid decisions, and wants to make the most efficient decision. He's more focused on the practicality behind a concept than understanding it, such as the reason for killing so many people in the gangs robberies, or unnecessarily exposing themselves by going after powerful people such as Bronte. I've already touched on this, but Arthur definitely has inferior Ne, as he is not an open minded or abstract thinker. He can however be quite philosophical at times, but this isn't very often, and is mostly in line with his Fi. He doesn't like it when his routine is changed, and is perfectly comfortable with having the same lifestyle for 20 years. When he's confronted on the changing society, he gets quite insecure about himself, and doesn't like the idea of too much change. However, he can be curious in his environments at times, as seen in his drawings in his journal, which is when his Ne shines the most. Despite me believing that Arthur is an ISTJ, I can see reasons for him being an ISTP. As I said earlier, he fits the stereotypical badass ISTP role rather easily, and is heavily introverted and reserved. But putting stereotypes aside and looking at his functions, he's not an ISTP, as he's too focused on his past experiences to possess Se, and doesn't show any signs of Ni. He also likes to have a routine and list of things to do, something an ISTP doesn't like, as they would rather adapt to situations than plan. He's also good at taking orders from others and accomplishing assigned tasks, which is what ISTJs thrive in, that being repetitive tasks. ISTPs don't like taking orders, and are often quite rebellious, which is not what Arthur is, at least with certain people.

Biografia

Born of Welsh descent, Arthur was left an orphan when his father was arrested for larceny. Taken in by Dutch, Arthur became one of the first members of the Van der Linde gang, as Dutch's right-hand man and his most loyal follower. In 1899 after a job in Blackwater gone horribly wrong, the gang was forced to flee further East into civilization. There, Arthur's faith in the man whom he called father and the decisions he makes begin to be tested.
