My main reason is Fe-Ni, not simply “she looks like an ENFJ.” Wasu’s entire existence is built around other people and their salvation. Marguerite originally became a magical girl because she wanted to save magical girls who were suffering, and she took their impurities onto herself. Eventually, the amount of suffering she accumulated became overwhelming, and the resulting existence became connected to Walpurgisnacht. That’s extremely important for typing her because her motivation isn’t: “I want to become powerful.” or: “I want to preserve my own identity.” It’s essentially: “Other people are suffering, therefore I have to save them.” That’s very strong Fe. But I don’t think she’s an ESFJ. Her behavior isn’t primarily about maintaining immediate interpersonal harmony or taking care of concrete social needs. There’s an almost abstract, symbolic fixation behind everything she does. She searches for Marguerite. She searches for her own identity. She tries to understand who she is. She attaches herself to the idea of a savior. And eventually Madoka gives her the answer to that identity question by telling her that she is Marguerite. Japanese analysis has specifically interpreted the story through the theme of “role vs. individual/name.” That’s where I see Ni. So: Why not INFJ? Wasu has an extremely introspective and identity-focused side, so INFJ isn’t unreasonable. But her energy is much more externally directed than internally withdrawn. She actively enters other people’s spaces, interacts directly with them, searches for Marguerite, confronts Homura, and tries to affect the people around her. One Japanese analysis specifically points out the bizarre directness of her behavior, including entering Madoka’s home while searching for the answer to her identity. She’s not sitting in the background thinking: i understand the truth. She’s doing something about the truth she believes in. That’s why I prefer: Fe-dom > Ni-dom. So: ENFJ > INFJ. Why Enneagram 2w1? This is probably my second-highest-confidence typing. The core of Wasu is the savior archetype. She doesn’t merely want to be loved. She wants to be useful. She sees suffering and responds by taking responsibility for it herself. And this becomes tragic because she doesn’t know when to stop. She absorbs more and more suffering until her own individuality gets swallowed into the collective existence that becomes Walpurgisnacht. A Japanese review describes the tragedy as Marguerite continually carrying the suffering of others until she eventually loses even the ability to know who she herself is. Why 1 wing?: Because her altruism isn’t purely emotional. There’s a moral imperative behind it. People are suffering. Therefore they should be saved. She isn’t merely thinking: “I want everyone to love me because I’m helpful.” It’s more: “Someone has to save them.” That gives me 2w1 rather than 2w3. Why Instinct so/sp? I’d type her social-first. Her concern expands beyond one individual and becomes almost collective: magical girls → their suffering → their salvation → their names/identities → the collective. She literally becomes part of an aggregate of multiple magical girls. Reviews emphasize that Walpurgisnacht’s enormous strength comes from being an amalgamation rather than one ordinary witch. That collective orientation feels much more so than sx. And I’d put sp second because she does have a strong self-preservation/survival element once the story reaches the question of identity and existence. Why Tritype 269? This is where I become less certain, but 269 makes the most sense to me. 2: The Savior “I need to help them.” This is obviously the strongest component. 6: The Seeker of security/faith Wasu has a profound attachment to the idea of a savior and keeps searching for Marguerite. She doesn’t simply forget everything and move on. Something inside her keeps saying: There is someone I’m supposed to find. Her relationship with Madoka also has this almost faith-like dimension. One Japanese analysis describes Marguerite/Wasu’s admiration for Madoka as being connected to Madoka accomplishing on a vastly greater scale the same kind of salvation Marguerite once wished for. 9: Dissolution / merging And this one is very interesting. Wasu’s entire existence is connected to loss of individuality. Multiple magical girls become an aggregate. That is extremely 9-coded thematically. Why Socionics: EIE (ENFj)? This follows naturally from the Fe-Ni interpretation. EIE is basically the Socionics type I’d consider when someone has: strong emotional influence + abstract vision + ideological/moral intensity. Wasu isn’t merely emotionally expressive. Her existence revolves around an idea: salvation. And that idea becomes so powerful that it transforms her identity and ultimately her entire existence. That’s much more EIE than something like ESE.
Biografia
Wasu (ワス), also known as Nameless Upperclassman (名前のない上級生, Senior with no name), is a character from Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie -Walpurgisnacht: Rising-. In general, Wasu's appearance is almost identical to that of Homura Akemi, the only main differences being that her hair is far more wavy and saturated, almost totally being purple, and her eyes are red with white pupils.
