I need to rewatch the movie to accurately type this guy, but everyone’s arguments that Soren is an Fe user is absolute bs. Can we please STOP associating Fe with being the “wholesome selfless” function and Fi being the “self centered selfish” function. That’s not how those functions work! We need to stop typing characters based off stereotypes, so we can try to type fictional characters with accuracy of understanding cognitive functions, and not stereotypical bias. Fe- cares about the collective as a group for morality, makes decisions that are socially acceptable and appropriate, and is emotionally in tune with their environment and cares a lot about social harmony. Fi- cares about personal and subjective morals, and will make decisions based off of what feels right to them regardless whether others approve or not, and cares a lot about following their own inner compass and maintaining inner harmony. Does Soren make decisions that are best for the greater good? Or does he make decisions that feel right to him? Wanting to help people and a being kind person has nothing to do with cognitive functions. A high Fi user can be just as selfless as a high Fe user, and the same applies the other way when it comes to selfishness. Keep in mind, Fe users can have their own personal morality, and Fi users can care about what is socially acceptable. It’s just secondary for them, and depends on how mature they are as a person (or owl in this case lol). I’ll be back to type this guy when I get around to rewatching the movie. Edit: Okay, I just finished watching the movie, and I know PDB users like to type characters based on stereotypes- but I’m going to have to agree that I do think Soren is an INFP. He seems to be lead through out the movie by Fi-Ne rather than Ni-Fe. Like being an intuitive person doesn’t automatically make a person (or owl) a dominant Ni user. Dominant Ni users like to be lead by singular vision and like to make decisions by on their “hunches”. While there’s no doubt Soren is an owl with likes to trust his intuition, he’s mainly lead by his personal morals. Almost everything he does through out the film is because it feels right to him, not because it best serves the group. Being a kind and thoughtful person does not necessarily mean they are a Fe user, because if a high Fi user values those qualities, they will strictly follow those morals. I could go on a lot more on why I Soren is an INFP, but I think I’ve said enough (also because I’m lazy lol).
