He's definitely an INFP and one of the best examples of an INFP in cinema. In the beginning of the movie, he leaves the field hospital driven by despair and a desire to take control of his fate after witnessing the suffering of other soldiers. He rides into battle to provoke enemy fire, which symbolizes his struggle to remain whole and assert his identity. No matter what, he fights for what he finds right and believes in. He is very fond of his own identity. He risked staying behind the tribe just to get his diary, because to him, that diary was "his life". His Fi is not hard to see. After seeing the bison killed for their tongue and skin, his interpretation of the event in terms of value, honor and being human reveals his Fi even more clearly. He's too introspective and too detached to be an ENFP. His Ne is strong but definitely not enough Ne to be dominant. He took all kinds of security measures for the bastion by calculating all kinds of possibilities. And his Si is definitely not weak enough to be Inferior. He had a strong duty ethic and guarded the bastion for months, even though there were no soldiers on the bastion. He cares about stability as well as possibilities. He has at least Tert-Si.
