Since I don’t agree with the SX7 consensus, I thought I’d come here to try and explain in the best way I can why I do believe that Enid is instead a self-preservation two. For this purpose, I will start talking about how she better fits the heart triad (2-3-4) over the head triad (5-6-7), then I will be talking about how the manifestation of Pride shows off in her character and will end this argument elaborating on the subtype. ㅤㅤㅤㅤ੭ 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐝 > 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐝 What first made me believe Enid was not an enneagram seven was that enneagram seven belongs to the head triad, which, if you think about it, doesn’t fit Enid’s character construction. While the head triad overturns onto their thoughts to avoid the sensation of fear, the heart triad is deeply concerned with the image they project onto others in a search of belonging. The need to construct their own sense of being through the eyes of others is irrational and impulsive in this particular enneatypes, whose main concerns deeply relate to the search of identity, self-esteem and hostility (why did they treat me this way? did I do something wrong…?). Therefore, their fixation is concerned with being loved and valid to the society as a whole. They are concerned with being good enough to the eyes of other people, being seen by the ones around them. Their external image, the image they project, is often unconsciously manipulated by them in order to satisfy their personal needs and feel validated. › ❝We each have a physical, emotional, and mental body, just as we each manifest most of the patterns of all fixations. Yet, our core point of view crystallizes in one of those three bodies. This is the location of our chief feature, the one place where our response to the world is most deeply entrenched❞. —From fixation to freedom: the enneagram of liberation, Eli Jaxon-Bear. › ❝The emotional body thinks in emotions, or waves of feeling: it is non-rational and often pre-verbal. The emotional thoughts are of neediness and trying to get approval and love. Then the emotional reactions of anger, hurt, and sadness come into play when emotional needs are not met. Hysterics, or image points, move toward people. [...] The mental body is in the realm of thoughts and ideas. It is the home of internal dialogue. Paranoids, or fear points, move away from people❞. —From fixation to freedom: the enneagram of liberation, Eli Jaxon-Bear. Enid lacks the need to escape the outer world because it is perceived as threatening proper of any enneatype of the head triad (or paranoids, as referred in the quote above). She is a person who constantly wants to participate in every instance, is people-driven and has no problem with taking responsibilities regarding this aspects of life. In fact, she wants to do it. Actively searches for it (❝Want to take a stab at being social?❞, she asks to Wednesday). When has she ever moved away from people? Instead, she compulsively wants to take part in the world and the sense of belonging and approval from it is what motors her actions and the vision she has about herself. She is deeply concerned with her image and the way people perceive her, in a neediness of finding a way of belonging, which is a concern we see in her throughout the whole show –she has a blog where she gossips about everyone, has a need to appear likable and popular to others, and overall all of her problems revolve around her being angry or sad for not getting what she wants regarding relationships (i.e. her fight with Ajax, the kid she invited to the Rave’N, and even Wednesday at some point) or the way she is perceived by others affecting her own self-esteem (i.e. her mother’s opinion and pressure because she has problems wolfing out). That is why I think she is heart triad, not head triad.
