Am I the only one that thinks Kelly might be Sexual 3? Hear me out on this. I know she can act very outwardly aggressive at times, which may make her seem like she doesn't fit the bill for Sexual 3 as well. But something about Kelly being Sexual 2 bothered me... ★ She denies her impulses to be seen as more acceptable to society. ★ I know that both e2 and e3 are Heart Types that desire to be loved, but the bottom line with e2 is that although they pride themselves on being serviceable, they do not lose themselves in the process of pleasing others. Their pride still comes above all else. However, we see Kelly actively denying her own impulses to be seen as more acceptable to society. Such as when she tried to stop feeling things for her cousin, and went to Sex Addict Rehabilitation with everyone else. Kelly is working to reform her image of being someone openly promiscuous, and to project a "Christian good girl" image instead. She also immediately panicked at the idea of feeling genuine love for Ari... ★ "Help me, Jesus, help me! IT'S NOT LOVE, IT'S JUST LUST, IT'S NOT LOVE, IT'S JUST LUST!" ★ That's not very Sexual 2 of her!! Kelly doesn't pursue what she wants at all costs, she shys away from it when it feels too vulnerable for her, or when it might mess with her image. Although she does seem concerned with receiving love and attention, her standards don't seem to come from pride, but from what is deemed acceptable. And at one point, she considered the idea of dating girls, but insisted against it because she then wouldn't have a rich husband. ★ "So... would you ever consider going full-time with it?" "Fuck no! Then I wouldn't have a rich husband." "Aren't relationships... more than money?" ★ Not to mention, how very curious. One of her concerns is money? Money and status? It's almost like Kelly is concerned with things attached to her image, rather than just love and validation for its own sake! You'd think if Kelly was a Sexual 2, she wouldn't be suffering from this much internalized homophobia. She seems too concerned about adhering to societal standards despite homosexuality just becoming more acceptable among their school. It's also notable that although she skips like the other girls do, we also see her putting a lot of effort into her school project, as well as being the manager of FYE. This shows good work ethic on Kelly's regard, which makes the hedonistic type of Sexual 2 even less likely. Not to mention... I find it interesting she mentions that if Jeffrey was attractive, she would immediately let him [put his face in her chest]. Almost as though she values other people's attractiveness and status over who they are. I believe Kelly's aggressiveness at times is simply a product of the typical Class of '09 environment, and not an indicator of her being a Sexual 2. Especially since a Sexual 2 would not be likely to be reforming themselves into a "Christian good girl" since due to their pride they would not be ashamed of their impulses like Kelly clearly is. Her internalized homophobia due to societal expectations is even brought up in the infamous The Flipside: ★ "You were drunk!? Well- I was just doing it for attention! So we're even!" ★ So I see the passion of Deceit and Vanity as a lot more prevalent for Kelly. She shys away from genuine feelings and mostly does what is considered societally acceptable. Kelly also seems to emphasize being of service to other people more so than she does being compensated for her efforts. Overall, I think her being Sexual 3 is more likely! Thank you for reading! ^^
