Elio is an INFP 6w7. His Ne serves his Fi. He doesn't create possibilities just because he enjoys it, but so that he can find his belonging and himself. His clone literally states this in the scene where Elio meets his clone. He can't get along with others in the real world because they want him to be something that he's not. That's dominant Fi rebelling against the outside world and protecting their emotional values. Him wanting to be abducted by aliens isn't to find enjoyment in life (which is the goal of a 7) but to find someplace where he feels safe and secure. He's afraid of the cruelty and restrictions of Earth. That is textbook counterphobic 6w7, the 7 wing being his rebellious side.
