Xiang Bu son of the Chu general Xiang Yan and uncle of Xiang Yu, played an important role in the final years of the Qin dynasty and the ensuing Chu–Han Contention. After his father’s death in battle against Qin, Xiang Bu supported his nephew Xiang Yu and became one of his generals, distinguished for bravery and loyalty on the battlefield. However, as the struggle between Xiang Yu and Liu Bang intensified, Xiang Bu eventually defected to Liu Bang’s camp. This defection not only weakened Xiang Yu’s cause but also strengthened Liu Bang’s rise, contributing to the foundation of the Han dynasty.
