I understand the ISFJ votes, but I disagree in favor of ESFJ. Annie is just speculating on subjective opportunism/asceticism (Si) to determine objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe), but she's not calculating toward Si like an Si dominant type would. She's not invested in the function. She coexists with it, but it's not her primary focus. Her primary focus is objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe). I'll explain, though. Annie Wilkes : "When I was growing up in Bakersfield, my favourite thing in the whole world was to go to the movies on Saturday afternoons for the Chapter Plays." Paul Sheldon : [nodding] "Cliffhangers." Annie Wilkes : [shouting] "I know that, Mr. Man! They also called them serials. I'm not stupid ya know... Anyway, my favourite was Rocketman, and once it was a no breaks chapter. The bad guy stuck him in a car on a mountain road and knocked him out and welded the door shut and tore out the brakes and started him to his death, and he woke up and tried to steer and tried to get out but the car went off a cliff before he could escape! And it crashed and burned and I was so upset and excited, and the next week, you better believe I was first in line. And they always start with the end of the last week. And there was Rocketman, trying to get out, and here comes the cliff, and just before the car went off the cliff, he jumped free! And all the kids cheered! But I didn't cheer. I stood right up and started shouting. This isn't what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us! This isn't fair! HE DID'NT GET OUT OF THE **** - A - DOODIE CAR!" This dialogue examples both Annie's inferior subjective optics/symbols/vantage (Ti) and her dominant objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe) as well as her auxiliary subjective opportunism/asceticism (Si). ✅ Notice when she responds "I'm not stupid ya know" she's responding to Paul (ISTP) positing a symbolic abstraction with "cliffhangers." It's obvious introverted thinking is a sore spot for Annie. There are multiple instances throughout the film this *thinking* inadequacy and repression of hers shows up. ✅ Notice also the recounting of the memory toward the end when she says "This isn't what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us!" the part "They just cheated us" is a conclusion of objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe) off the back of speculation on subjective opportunism/asceticism (Si), which examples as a preference to scale experience down, i.e. asceticism as opposed to aestheticism. She's talking about how Rocketman couldn't escape the week before but now suddenly he's escaped. Annie desired to scale the experience of watching Rocketman back to its more canonical ending. That's introverted sensation seeking to keep things ordinal as opposed to extraverted sensation's cardinal preference. Annie is definitely a strong Si type, but she's not a dominant Si type. Paul Sheldon : "These are slum kids, I was a slum kid. Everybody talks like that." Annie Wilkes : "THEY DO NOT! What do you think I say when I go to the feedstore in town, "Oh, now Wally, give me a bag of that F-in' pig feed, and ten pounds of that bitchly cow corn"? And the bank do I tell Mrs. Bollinger, "Oh, here's one big bastard of a check, give me some of your Christ-ing money?" THERE, LOOK THERE, SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!" This dialogue examples Annie's tertiary objective knowledge/expectancy (Ne). Types without Ne can definitely be proficient in wordplay, but. . . ✅ Notice how Annie's wordplay is especially connotative, not denotative, and expresses her immemorial adaptations of words mentioned, e.g. "F-in' pig," "bitchly cow," and "big bastard of a check" connote a locus of impression central to the subject herself, i.e. Annie is on the Ne-Si perception axis. Annie Wilkes : "Now that's an oogie mess." Annie is neither an ENFJ nor an ISFJ, but Annie Wilkes is actually an ESFJ.
