i dunno, i feel like the party album as a whole feels like an ni dom’s view of the world. shauf focuses on each individual perspective in a very insightful way, quietly analyzing the characters and picking apart their stories as if he is a partygoer himself. there’s plenty of fe in there, too, especially in songs like to you, begin again, and quite like you. sure, that’s just one of shauf’s albums, but i feel like it’s the closest look we can get into his mind, since it’s full of the most emotion. take a song like things i do from the neon skyline and not much will change— literally dripping with fe, where the narrator is apologetic and beating himself over something that does not appear to be his fault. not to mention fe-se manifesting with his need to be liked and well-perceived.

Andy Shauf (Born: 26 May 1987, age 33) is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Regina, Saskatchewan. He plays several instruments, including clarinet. Shauf was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, grew up in Bienfait, and later moved to Regina. His parents ran an electronics and music store, giving him access to a variety of instruments.
