🔮Will Byers, as a self-preservation Six “Sp6 is the type who’s terrified of flying but does it anyway — and every bit of turbulence, even the tiniest bump, sends them into a cold sweat and makes them feel like he's going to die.” Will has always been presented to us as a shy, modest, and kind child. Joyce said he’s more sensitive than other kids. From a young age, he was bullied by classmates and his father, which made him lean toward seeing the world as full of dangers. Will found his safe circle in his friends and family, and he relies on the people close to him, since he struggles with independence and has a hard time making decisions. Will doesn’t have many friends, but the ones he does have are his support and his safe place. With them he feels calm and happy, especially when they’re doing something he genuinely loves himself: 'Self-preservation Sixes tend to form small groups and have a hard time moving through the world alone. When he felt his “safe bubble” was threatened — like in season 3 — he tried to bring everyone together to play D&D again and return to the past where he felt comfortable. Sp6 often complains about the cold, including physically. When Will was in the Upside Down, he hummed the song that brought him warmth and comfort. The warmth he seeks is not only physical, but emotional as well. He tries to hide his problems and negative thoughts, because opening up is scary. The only person Will has ever truly been able to open up to is his best friend — Mike. Throughout the entire show, you can notice his constant background fear, up until the moment he feels he’s finally in a “safe” place (according to his own perception). Will’s character arc is about learning to stop being endlessly loyal and frightened. He needs to develop independence and a sense of confidence in himself. Will is always unsure of his actions, so nothing comes without doubts. He almost never argues with his friends, even when something hurts him. He stays quiet and bottles it up so he doesn’t accidentally ruin things or lose the comfort and support he relies on. He tends to take the blame onto himself to prevent someone else’s anger and avoid the potential risk of damaging a relationship. Will tries to do things and make choices that will keep him safe and won’t shake any part of his “safe place.” He has a strong fear of anger. When Mike was upset with him, Will always looked scared and confused. The same goes for his own anger: he hides it because it frightens him. Will doesn’t want to stand out or draw too much attention to himself, so he tends to hide his problems — he doesn’t want to seem weak or make others worry about him. A self-pres Six lives with the hope of finding someone who can protect them and someone they can trust. Will found that person in Mike. In Season 2, Mike was the first one Will could talk to about his episodes and the fact that he'd seen Dart before. Every time Mike pulls away from him, Will ends up feeling on edge: in Season 4, when they had that van conversation, Will said that 'El was kind of lost without you,' but everyone knows he was talking about himself. “Sp6 shows less aggressiveness and is much more afraid of confronting it. If counterphobic aggressiveness acts as fuel to start taking action, then in the self-preservation subtype aggressiveness is passive and can only be expressed through explosive outbursts after accumulated stress.” Every time Will felt anger, it was passive until the moment he finally “exploded.” In Season 3, when his safety and comfort — his friends — were threatened, he acted passive-aggressively, building up anxiety inside himself. In Season 2, when Joyce was hyper-protective of him, not allowing him to feel stable or calm, he was angry, but that anger came out in a passive form. “…He can’t stand conflicts, it’s hard for him to confront someone one-on-one, and when, after swallowing things for a long time, he finally explodes, the fear, guilt, and shame are immense, because the consequences can be terrible." After emotional “blow-ups,” Will felt guilty about what happened. He tore up photos, cried, destroyed the memories he associated with people, and later felt empty and overwhelmingly guilty. And when someone tried to talk to him about it, he became scared, blamed himself, pulled away, and said things like “forget it.” 1/2
Biografi
William "Will" Byers (portrayed by #Noah Schnapp) was a shy, smart, artistic boy from Hawkins, Indiana who loved to play Dungeons & Dragons with his three best-friends, Mike, Lucas and Dustin. However, Will's life, and that of Hawkins in its entirety, turned upside-down on November 6, 1983; on the way home from his friends' latest D&D campaign, Will crossed paths with an alien, otherworldly humanoid predator. Despite his best efforts to evade it, the creature trapped Will in an alternate dimension; a dark reflection of Hawkins covered in vines, spores, and fog known as the Upside Down. Eventually escaping the dark dimension, Will would rejoin the group as well as befriend recent addition to the party, and psychic, Eleven. Yet, Will's connection to the forces of the Upside Down were far from severed. In the group's D&D games, Will is the resident party wizard and occasional cleric. #GOAT
