All in all, this movie is quite poorly written, so she's quite generic in many ways, but she does have a personality. To be fair, her character reminds me of Esmeralda from the Hunchback of the Notre Dame, who also happened to be an ESFP in my opinion. But I don't think I see as much Fe and Ni as the current concensus would agree. I don't think her deciding to marry Joaquin bc "she's doing it for the town's safety" is considered Fe. Fe is about considering the tribe's perception and values, but Maria does it because 1) she was pressured 2) she feels it was the right thing to do despite knowing what she truly wants. She is always inclined to do what she feels is right, like cheering Manolo for not slaughtering the bull despite everyone boos at him. That is Fi. As for signs of Se, she is very easily captivated by Manolo's grand romantic gestures like good music, good ambience and good mood. That part of her is also what's driving the plot forward. She is quick on her feet, especially for saving Manolo from the snake at the proposal. Another example was when she was testing Joaquin's values at the dinner, she was painting a very vivid and tangibe image using her Se and her Ni at the same time. Moreover, mistyping her as ENFJ is caused by many mistaken Se for being shallow and unintellectual while she was said to 'read book for fun'. I may entertain the thoughts of other possibilities, but that's my opinion of her mbti so far.
