According to the descriptions in the book, she doesn't seem all that old like in this picture. Second is that she is also taller(this one is expressed clearly in the book and is not just speculation). In the chapter that Raskolnikov is going to kill her(6th or 7th idk) she seemed like she was going to give some of her pledges to Raskolnikov. I don't think that she deserved to die, the same way that I think that Raskolnikov did not deserved to be sent to Siberia. Well, brutal and unfair world, being represented very well in this book I whould also not portray her as "evil" but as 'little evil'. The economic system is the one that is truly evil and forces some more astute people do shit like what she used to do in the book.
