Why Type 1? Aren't type 1s supposed to follow the rules and be a good boy? Bismarck broke the rules ever since he was born. He was one insubordinate son of a gun. As Wilhelm I once said: 'It's not easy to be emperor under him.' I'd say he's a type 8 all the way. As a student he hardly showed up for his lessons as he was more busy drinking and duelling other students. He was fired from his first job for not showing up cause he was chasing ladies. He was known for having a dominating and intimidating persona and he could have outbursts of rage, even against the emperor and he threatened time and again to resign if the emperor did not follow his way. It has been said that sometimes he steered the ship deliberately towards a storm to prove his skills as a captain and to show Germany could not do without him. He was addicted to power. If you were not with him, you were against him. He crushed political opponents. He lay awake at night hating his enemies and suffered from insomnia. He always needed some adversary. When he had united Germany he fought inner political wars against Catholics and Socialists. Having said all that, I think he was a brilliant statesman, one of the most fascinating and succesful history has ever seen. Still I'm very curious why people think Enneagram Type 1, please do explain.

Otto von Bismarck (Born 1 April 1815 – 30 July 1898) was a conservative Prussian statesman who dominated German and European affairs from the 1860s until 1890 and was the first Chancellor of the German Empire between 1871 and 1890.
