Bah! Don't type her as an INTJ just because she's a detective. She's clearly an INTP. I might have typed her as an ISTJ, but the INTP functions seem very apparent. Ti - She operated off her own internal logic and didn't see any point in explaining it to anyone else, or even in forming a cohesive theory of her own until everything lined up. Te is about making definitive decisions based on evidence in the moment, which she was very adamantly against. She was all about seeking out as much evidence as possible before reaching a conclusion. Ne - She took care not to make any conclusions during her entire case, instead just observing and recalling patterns. And then she improvised her entire solution on the spot. I think a Ni user would have been working ahead (keeping a suspect in mind and then revising their theory), not working backward (revising a theory and then finding a suspect). She considered multiple different possibilities for everything that happened and didn't pick one, instead waiting until a set of possibilities fit together. It wasn't a straight ahead deduction. She doesn't think in a linearly deductive way like an INTJ would. Si - This is really obvious. Like most detectives, she does the whole deducing from the environment thing, but she relies more on drawing from her memories of past details, and can sometimes miss immediate aspects of her environment. She's constantly making references to past knowledge of her own experiences (aka. bird facts and knowledge she's gleaned from interviews), and then using that to formulate theories. Fe - She also seemed to have quite a humanistic bent, based on her speech about the importance of the white house as a concept at the end of her case. And the story about how she found her little sisters sock. Lots of interest in people's relationships with each other and how they function as a community. Good at understanding people's emotions and motives. Anyways, the arguments against her being an INTP aren't convincing at all. I don't see much Fi in her at all, and INTPs are incredibly driven by their intellectual passions (which for her is birding and detective work). I see so much Ti, Ne, and Si in her it's insane. I think an INTJ would have gone more step by step, rather than bouncing between a ton of different ideas.
