His religious dawah and lectures are characterized by unique rhetoric and humor. Somad faced controversies after demeaning a woman's physical attributes. He also disparages other religions in his preaching, promotes prejudice against the LGBT community, denounces Korean drama audiences. In 2022, Somad was banned from entering Singapore due to his rhetoric.
