I can understand why Personality Database selected ISTJ 3w4 as Marcia's mbti, but I am fairly certain that ENTJ 3w4 is a better interpretation. Te dom- Marcia has always had visible Te in her motivations. From a young age, Marcia started as a young hopeful and high achiever wishing to become the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, and she gained the opportunity to prove herself when Silas Heap resigned as apprentice due to being very fearful of the Darke Quest that likely would have separated him from his family forever. Marcia became a strong-willed apprentice who argued with her mentor multiple times and won, according to Alther's private admission. This only grew more pronounced when Marcia became ExtraOrdinary Wizard after Alther was shot, and she quickly stepped into her role of bossing people about in times of peace and danger alike and using her status to command respect in the name of keeping the Castle safe from various Darke forces, time and time again. Ni- Constantly maintained a clear future for herself from a very young age and spares very little time and thought to look back to the past or traditions as a more prominent Si user would lean on. Se- Highly visible Se child function which is most visible with her borderline-obsession with her signature trademark pair of pointy purple python snakeskin shoes that she had specially made for her use. Marcia is very particular about maintaining peak appearances and is always irritable when something happens involving her shoes, such as scoffing at the thought of wearing galoshes in the Marshlands. A fairly vain attitude, but she is not so vain as to let her desire for meticulous attire interfere with her duties or the safety of the people she greatly cares for. Fi- Inferior Fi (with Fe blind) is subtle at first glance but also an underlying character trait of Marcia Overstrand. When she was young, Marcia always cared more for her ambitions rather than socializing with anyone in her age group. When she became the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, Marcia took to her new duties with gusto to avoid reflecting too much on the deaths of Alther Mella and Endor, who were both very dear to her. But despite her frosty and blunt attitude towards all aspects of Wizard life, she eventually formed very strong emotional connections with Jenna Heap, Milo Banda, the supportive ghost of Alther Mella and especially Septimus Heap, her dear apprentice. Fe blind manifests as Marcia sincerely wondering to herself if it is 'possible for her to do scary,' even as Angie Sage's narration points out that many people find her to be 'very scary indeed.' Marcia was a very strong influence on my imagination as a youth, following her mysterious attitude and objectives while listening to the twists of the mystery of the seventh son in the Magyk audiobook. I've always respected her for her deliberate, obstinate, can-do attitude towards life... but I've never really fantasized about having someone like her in my life. Too much stress and precarious social navigation involved with that. Such is the nature of a fictional ENTJ.
