self preservation 1 suppresses their anger the most out of all the e1 subtypes. it's suppressed to the point sp1's may not even realise they have anger, and it's pointed inwards to themself rather than at other's because they've been taught to do so in childhood. medkit doesn't outwardly display much anger towards those around him, in contrast, he's quite focused on helping others if you analyse his actions. even within his sarcastic demeanor there's a genuine care in him, which shows the most comic spoilers when after venomshank and windforce fight, he chooses to help the crowd in pain, and doesn't mind taking sword under his wing. It also shows during The Incident, where between him and subspace, he wants to use the crystals for good, and he's willing to fight for his decision — and while sp1's hide their anger, it often comes out in life or death situations — which shows, as he'll defend himself in those situations, this furthers my point of him being self preservation obver more than hahayeah this makes sense i think. sp's are very vehemently focused on their own safety above anything else. medkit's childhood (at least what we can infer about it) also fits within the typical sp1 childhood. sp1's usually grow up in demanding environments (blackrock scientist) where the kid is expected to manage themself and simultaneously be perfect. i wouldn't put blackrock behind that. this childhood also results in a need to be perfect. i have no evidence for this i just think that perfectionism suites meds character so bare With Me, and this perfectionism also ties into a constant nagging guilt that sp1's have, where they believe they are never good enough, and are constantly judging themself. um yeah meds like that probably GOD I WISH we had more about the characters rewrites rn. coming back to another point, e1 is a "visceral" type, which well many seem to think he's a head type not explaining that figure it out yourself, i belive that body makes more sense for him. at the start of ditf, his panels are very straightforward, one thing to the next, whichh was likely supposed to reflect how he lives very in-the-moment expanding on the sp aspect of him i think that his entire running away thing stemmed from that too, and then because of his sp1's inner judge being directed to themself entirely he is driven by the paranoia or guilt that he needs to remedy with finding somewhere he can be safe, e.g turning to the church for protection. the paranoia also ties into the sp1 guilt complex, that is often associated with a hate for their own anger. i mean what's more angry than probably giving someone eternal suffering and rot. i have more thoughts but this is a yap sesh
