Ashley isn’t an 8, just because she’s aggressive and needs control — her whole childhood was based off being forced to rely on her brother and her brother being shaped to parent Ashley because their mother couldn’t care less — Ashley does desire normalcy, she doesn’t want the circumstances she winds up being in — and she does want the approval of her mother which is shown in the beginning of the game when she repeatedly calls her mother, or when she goes out of her way to break the blood oath between her and Andrew as kids by telling her mother she was involved in the death of Nina. In the Enneagram, the breakdown of autonomy for an SP2 is a critical tipping point. It marks their psychological disintegration to Type 8 (The Challenger) or a severe collapse into codependency Her disintegration 2 > 8 is why she’s mistyped as 8w7. She’s a 2. Ashley’s use of intimacy throughout The Coffin of Andy and Leyley can be interpreted less as evidence of an E8 core and more as an SP2’s attachment strategy intensified by an 8 gut fix.
