Personality

What personality type is Dr. Tenma? Dr. Tenma is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - so/sp - 514 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.

I think this guy might be INTP. He doesn't do anything for some future purpose (NiTe). Instead it looks like his objective to create a perfect robot is an end in itself - that search for perfection with no ulterior motive seems more like TiNe to me. He created Atom to replace his son, then realized it wasn't what he wanted (his desire to recreate what he lost, plus the way he compares every little detail with his memory of Tobio, and dislikes everything that's different, can be a point toward Si). Then he created Goji/Bora because Abdullah asked him to, without seeming to care much about the consequences. After Atom's death, he comes back to say goodbye and decides on the spot to reanimate him, but after hours of frenzied work non-stop he leaves his fate undecided, accepting the decision of Ochanomizu... until Gesicht's death, at which point he reanimates Atom anyway (note that he does it neither out of Fi love/moral - he doesn't stay to even talk with Atom - nor because of an NiTe plan - he doesn't even know what the new Atom will be like). Overall, I don't really see Te in him (or any Extraverted Judging really): he doesn't direct others, he doesn't even direct himself - just pursues whatever he fancies. It's only toward the end that he feels some responsibility to stop Abdullah: it took a threat to the whole of humanity to move him a little. He's blunt, but only because he's brutally honest and wants to clarify things (when he questions Atom, when he says to Uran that she can't really feel things and just has a poetic way of communicating her data). It gives Ti-vibes rather than Te-vibes (Te is extraverted judging and therefore more directed/purposeful). He's also disconnected from his emotions - he gives the impression that he's trying to detach himself from the world at times, and struggling to unrepress his feelings at others. For example, he tried to deny his sadness at Atom's death, then cried in Helena's arms - explaining he had to copy other humans, to pretend, until it was genuine (this "mock emotions" thing is a mark of Ti/Fe rather than Fi/Te). Later again, he's again acting indifferent regarding Atom's fate as Atom wakes up. That disconnectedness reads like inferior Fe to me (though it could just be that he's messed up).
