Flavius Mauricius Tiberius also known as Emperor Maurice was emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire from 582 till he was betrayed and beheaded in 602. He is considered as one of the most capable statesman and generals of the Roman Empire and eventually was the author of the famous strategikon.
