It seems that almost every comedian gets typed as Ennea 7. However, I urge you to look a little deeper than "funny guy is 7". I believe Duncan is a VERY well-developed 5w4. Yes, he's upbeat and positive. But to understand the distinction, we must understand why 7s are like this in the first place. Take Jim Carrey for instance, ostensibly a 7. He said that he got into comedy "to make his sick mother feel better." The type 7 gluttonizes to run from pain. The 5's relationship to pain is realistic. If anything, they prefer to integrate it into their way of understanding the world. Only when 7s mature, do they start to slow down and even dabble in asceticism. Duncan has been very open about his insecurities. He speaks often of this feeling of "lack". In a way, you can see him trying to understand every philosophy and worldview as a protection against this. Quote: “You have to begin to ask yourself which components of my belief system are things that I arrived through naturally from my observation of nature, and which parts of them are placed into me by system that is designed to turn people into consumers. And I think more often than not that a greater percentage of your personality is not you at all. It’s a tapestry that has been cleverly woven by a system designed to make people feel totally normal spending the majority of their lives driving in a commute and working in a shit job and being tired all the time.” Right there he describes the 5's core fear of being useless and incapable well. He also seems to value his privacy a great deal and time to ruminate, despite being extroverted. 4 wing is fairly evident, valuing authenticity over the societal norm, finding mysticism to be more appealing than materialism.
