For sure my favourite character in all of gaming, the level of depth in him is a thing to behold. "I just wanted to love someone. I just wanted to care about someone. I decided... It wasn't worth living anymore, not in a world without love." Flowey's primary motivation that fuels his actions and goals is love for the world and its people, even though he himself stated that he cannot feel love. I'll explain: At the very beginning of the game, flowey tells us that LV stands for love. Later on in the judgement hall, our expectations are subverted and we learn from Sans that it's actually an acronym for "Level of Violence". But is this really the full meaning? Let's think about this: when we, the players, go on to do a genocide route, what is it that motivates us? It's not simple curiosity, and it's not the desire to make the characters suffer, it's love. It's precisely our love for the game and its characters, the desire to continue to keep 'playing' with them that motivates us to slaughter the underground and reach the limit of LV 20. LV isn't just Level of violence, it's Love. It's the twisted, suffocating love that makes us torture, kill, bring despair just to see what more our loved ones have to offer to us. Flowey is a perfect parallel to the player in that regard. He might not be able to feel true love, but he can feel LV. "You're the only one who's any fun to play with anymore. I... I... I'm doing this because I care about you, Chara. I care about you more than anyone else." Flowey wanted to become a god not because he wanted to control everything (e8), not out of desire for new experiences (e7), and not be because he envies the world and wants to destroy it out of hatred (e4). It's because he loves the world and its inhabitants. He wants them to remain his playthings that keep 'giving' to him. (e2) This is, of course, most evident in his relationship with Chara. He's ready to give up godlike power and reset everything just to keep playing with them.
Biography
Flowey is the main antagonist of Undertale. Originally, he comes off as welcoming and kind, but the act is quickly revealed to show he is violent and cruel. This is because of past experiences that happened when his friend and him tried to cross the barrier.
