This is very clearly seen when he fights alongside Coen, towards the end of the story. When Coen gets overwhelmed by the seemingly unending number of enemies, Brencis just tells him to continue cutting through them until the job is done; when Coen asks what the creatures they are fighting are, Brencis just tells him that this is what they'll turn into, should they fall here. Additionaly, I feel like whenever he speaks, he has a purpose and never does he say more than he needs to, in order to fulfill his purpose
