What personality type is Poseidon? Poseidon is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - SO3 - 387 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
I understand the ESTJ consensus (leaned more towards ENTJ at first, but after more research, I now agree with the consensus), but I nearly had a heart attack at the 3w4 nonsense. It took me a few minutes to understand that one, but I think people are picking it just because Poseidon values his reputation. That is seriously not enough to type from. It’s literally only one detail of his character that could also apply to other types, and as a type 4 myself, that 4 wing just seems like people thought “well, he’s nowhere near a 2, so we’ll have to settle for 4”. It’s very lazy. I’m only just starting to do some research to better understand him, but I’m pretty sure he’s a very unhealthy 8w9. 3s do care about their image, but in a positive way. They want people to admire them. They crave approval. “I’ve got a reputation. I’ve got a name to uphold, so I can’t go letting you walk, or else the world forgets I’m cold.” Poseidon wants people to *fear* him. He wants everyone to know they can’t cross him without consequences. This is totally different from wanting admiration. The 9 wing would also help explain why he’s so protective of his son, because the 8w9 is sometimes known as the “Bear”, a fatherly type that can still have explosive fits of rage. You could say he doesn’t actually care about his son that much and is just using his son as an excuse to assert his dominance, but that behavior still applies to 8s perfectly. Just had to get that out, but if anyone thinks he’s something other than a 3 or an 8, I’d still love to hear why.
