okay, so I just finished reading up to date. Keep in mind as I'm writing this, chapter 20 is the latest. I'll try my best to explain, analyze and pull out quotes to support me. If you think my analysis doesn't suit a cognitive function I label it with, please feel free to correct me. I am open to changing my vote. Before I start, I want to quickly address that poor lily has been done dirty her whole life so her functions may not be as developed or a little 'dark'. Dom (ni): So tbh, I don't think she is a feeler dominant type. I think this because she uses her critical thinking to justify feelings and help her navigate throughout the story. And vice versa. Therefore indicating that she uses her judging functions in aux and tert for it to work reasonably. Though, this could also be possible if she's in a inf grip or if her functions are well developed, which honestly I doubt 🤷♀️. But anyways... I think her dominant is a perceiving type (n vs s), and furthermore an intuitive function. "will I find happiness?... it's highly unlikely." I believe this quote shows introverted intuition. She thinks on a fairly linear way. instead of thinking all of the different ways of escaping her lifestyle, she thinks of a plan and doesn't really consider her consequences or what else she can do. In the same chapter, she thinks of how she hasn't given up because of the glimmer of hope for someone to help escape her hell. aux/tert (fe-ti): from the first chapter, she is able to read other people and knows her place. She obviously has her own set of values but rather tends to focus on the society she's been placed in. She knows that the Everett house is full of bad people and when she sees the common people, she feels the need to help improve their life style (fe). she's also painfully aware of how she's perceived. She understands the reputation of the everetts and how she suffers from it (fe-ti). lily tends to be very curious about theo, and often wonders about how he feels about certain things/her. She wonders about his stance about the whole situation with their marriage (fe-ti, her curiosity). 'how does he feel about this? if I knew, then I could use that information to form some kind of harmony between us so our marriage goes by smoothly without causing trouble'. In fact, as I'm writing and flicking through the chapters, I found a quote that supports this train of thought. "I'm not surprised, to him I am the hateful daughter of the everetts. I don't hate or resent him. For me, it's best not to grow fond of him and form a distance." inf (se): Early on, she kind of just accepts her fate as being the duchess and living in the estate. "I'll live here as if I'm dead." "I won't do anything and I won't expect anything." She neglects her external needs, like struggling to eat enough food and resorting to sleeping pills even though she knows the harmful effects of it. She doesn't even mind the harmful effects of the sleeping pills and welcomes it. ni-fe-ti-se: "there's no way theo will think well of me...yet a part of me thinks otherwise." She makes the prediction that Theo won't like her from her conclusions of her status as an everett and his values as a valentino (ni). But regardless, she still believes that it's possible for her and Theo to come to a mutual understanding despite their labels as everett and valentino (fe). Before meeting Theo, she understands the rumors and external sources about his character. She applies this knowledge of how people operate around her (fe) and the knowledge of him to her understanding of her little 'web' (ni). The more she learns about him, she applies it to her world (ni) and draw her own conclusions (ti). she also doesn't really act on her behalf but rather for others (fe-se). The times where her maid, Charlotte, is done dirty, lily does her best to sort things out. She doesn't like seeing Charlotte distressed or mistreated based on Charlotte's personal sufferings (fe) rather than her beliefs and values (which is more of an fi trait). She acts on such things (inf se) in a way that lacks rationality but she still ends up being able to pull through using ni-ti. In the first instance of something like this happening, i.e charlotte being harassed by the other maids, lily is quick to jump up in impulse but is assured by charlotte and instead of pulling through with what she wanted to do (se), she simply comforts charlotte. The next day is when she sorts out the situation in a more rational and formal way but is interrupted by lady seymour. IM ALMOST OUT OF LIMIT SO THIS IS CUT SHORT. PLS CORRECT ME OR PROVE ME WRONG OR ADD SUPPORT. I'm open to discussion.
