Biography
Jinty seems to be friendly and polite, greeting Percy upon arrival and helping Thomas after his accident, however Jinty also appears to have a cheeky side and was seen openly laughing at Thomas after his crash. In 1956, Jinty and Pug - along with five other engines - were loaned by British Railways to run the North Western Railway while Sir Topham Hatt's engines visited the Mainland. Jinty ran Thomas' Branch Line. Shortly before the Sodor engines left, Thomas was teaching Jinty how to run the line. He told Jinty about his race with Bertie and attempted to demonstrate how he stopped just short of the buffers to win the race. However, he instead crashed into the buffers and almost missed the trip due to the damage to his front. Jinty helped to pull Thomas out of the wreckage, but still laughed at him. Jinty is based on a London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Fowler 3F 0-6-0T. These class of engines were nicknamed Jinty, which comes from Scottish Gaelic.
