Ebenezer Scrooge SP6???? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MINDS????? I don't know what you guys have been reading, but after reading both Naranjo's descriptions and Chestnut's expansions on these descriptions, nothing meets Scrooge. the SP6 is described as warm, geeky and ambiguous, who clings onto others as friends with whom he can feel secure. The SP6 is like a teddy-bear who longs for an eternal warmth to keep him safe and secure. This is not Scrooge in the slightest. Instead, I believe Scrooge to be a Self-Preservation Five, and I'll now explain why. Fives in general possess a passion of Avarice and an ego-fixation on stinginess. In our modern interpretations of the Five, this greed usually manifests in a greed for knowledge, and a thirst for intellect with the end goal of feeling secure and competent. However, I believe Scrooge to be a more traditional or old-fashioned interpretation of the five, whose greed and avarice manifest in the traditional sense of a miser who refuses to give out even a penny extra of what he feels necessary. These characteristics define Scrooge, and it is these characteristics which are defeated in favour of a more healthy version of Scrooge, who learns to loosen the grip on his money. Now, I can understand why people have voted for Six, he is afraid that spending his money will lead into failure, however I think this is a misunderstanding of what either type really is. Both Five and Six are defined by fear and a need for security, however where they differ is in how they seek this security. A six will outsource their security to another, relying on that for protection and security, and this may be a friend group, an ideology, or a strength. Fives, on the other hand, achieve security in a different way. They rely on themselves for their security, their own knowledge, and own experiences. They seek security internally, not externally like Sixes do. And it is this distinction as to why I believe Scrooge to be a Five, he relies on no one else to fill in the role of protector, he only relies on himself and his wealth, of which he gives none. On top of that, Fives are part of the withdrawn triad, which moves away from society and other people in the name of a type's core fear. And, to say that Scrooge is withdrawn is a total understatement. Scrooge is beyond withdrawn, he is completely out of touch with the rest of society, only dwelling over his business and his lack of willingness to spend money. All of this is to say that Ebenezer Scrooge is a Five, rather than a Six.
