Personality

What personality type is Eric (THE BOYZ)? Eric (THE BOYZ) is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - so/sx - 792 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.

I thought he might be an ESTP for a while too, just because of the way he comes off, but looking at his interviews, I think it's clear he isn't one. His Fe is VERY strong. He says things like “Most of all, I enjoy talking and communicating with people" and “I’m more interested in others than myself." He also says "It’s nice when my talkativeness makes people feel delighted and refreshed," “Moreover, as I talk a lot, it also makes me sympathize and listen well with what other people say," and "I don’t have trouble getting along with new people and I’m not a shy person.” Eric also seems to suffer from some common high Fe user problems. For example, he seems to often put on an energetic and outgoing persona and he says "When I don’t seem like that, I’m afraid that everyone might feel betrayed.” He seems to act confident around others to make them comfortable, but according to him, it’s just an act. He says "The past, Sohn Youngjae (his korea name) didn’t have much confidence. Although I pretended to have one, but honestly, looking back, I don’t think I [had] any.” This act also seems to leave him to struggling some with his sense of identity, saying “Youngjae wasn’t who I thought he was. Was everything fake? Everything that Eric and Youngjae showed us until now?” He brings up a third common high Fe issue, saying "Even though that person didn’t ask for my attention in the first place, I feel bad if I don’t get the same amount of attention [back] that I gave to them" and "The point is this, I’m very interested in this person. But if this person isn’t as interested in me as I am [in them], I feel sad.” Basically, he goes out of his way to connect with other people and make them comfortable, and he feels hurt if they don't give as much back. He has an inferior Ti inner critic that seems to come out quite a bit, especially partnered with his Fe. He says things like "My confidence and passion are tremendous. It’s not that I have the best skills but, if I also don’t have confidence, will people like me?” He does seem to strive towards self-improvement (Ti), but because Ti is his inferior function he tends to be very hard on himself and downplay his abilities in his search of objective analysis. He says "Honestly, there are too many skilled people in the world. But I’m not an outstanding person… or an excellent person among them. I am heading towards that direction step by step. My strength is the potential to grow and improve furthermore" and “I [had] this thought that if you look closely, in The Boyz, I [was] neither the member with neither outstanding visuals nor [was I] able to showcase a striking talent in dance and rap. How will I have at least one position that will stand out? I tried to hang on these words." I do see some healthier usage of the function too: “I’m challenging myself by composing a song, I voluntarily request for a lot of dance and vocal lessons too, and I put a lot of effort into becoming an all rounder in different fields," “However, I will not settle and will develop a variety of skills in different areas to be competent so I will not be a person with only confidence," and “Of course, as big as my desires are, I know well that I will have to put in a lot of effort and there will be consequences.” (1/2)
