Besides all the antisemitic stuff, he had interesting reasons for rejecting chess In later life. He claimed “true creativity” and insight didn’t reside in chess but in something like music. He said chess was highly systematic and was just about memorization and mastering a specific set of rules. He also said people who got into chess tended to by egotistical and competitive and he preferred the comradery musicians shared. I don’t know if this was signs of an older Bobby developing tertiary Fi or just a man going insane. Maybe a bit of both.
