I'm not sure why he's voted as 6 other than the fact that this is a horror novel (hope it's not just because he exhibits symptoms of schizophrenia) but I don't really see any ego-cowardice in him. Sure he lives in fear but so do all head types. His obsessive drive to document Zampanò's writing, his self-imposed isolation and general sense of detachment... all very in line with e5 avarice, especially self-pres 5.
