I would say an archetypal barbarian in their most pure form is an ESFP due to the characteristics of Fi commonly associated with them. This barbarian is loyal to their tribe, and makes decisions based on how they feel. Their actions are guided by their internal values, which only occasionally conflicts with their gut feeling, as they are well integrated with their inner self. They are an authentic character who does not flatter, smile, or otherwise cater to others in order to win them over. This barbarian is a protagonist, and though they are fierce, they also has a certain compassion and integrity. There are plenty of ESTP barbarians as well, of course, but if we are thinking archetypally, and spreading out types among DnD classes, then ESTP has an edge with, and is more suited for, the fighter class.
