ACHERON, THE SELF-PRESERVATION 4 here’s a repost of a quick argument i made in the replies of another comment on this page. it’s pretty rushed and simple but i think it will help explain the mindset behind SP4 for acheron! (also please let me know if any of my lore is off!) ————————————————————————————— —— “The Envy of the E4 when combined with this instinct leads to conservational envy. This kind of envy makes them harder to notice as 4s, the envy turned against oneself leads them to conserve their own suffering, to believe that they can endure and handle much more, they feel the need to protect their own dream of the future. Because of this, it is not uncommon for the SP4 to be very stoic, as they are used to swallowing pain. They have learned to tolerate pain and not dwell in it. Because of the SP need for survival, they demand a lot from themselves and have a passion for effort.” firstly, it’s easy to eliminate other enneatypes for her. gut triad is absurd for her; anger and emotional regulation isn’t at all a center of her character. for head triad, e6 makes little sense for her; they are preoccupied with their own safety and fear the world. same with e5, she has no avarice or need to hoard information out of fear, and e7 in no way fits her. she lacks the pride of an e2 and the vanity of e3 as well, leaving e4 as the only viable option for her typology. in acheron’s story, “self-annihilation” is a reoccuring theme. —“ The elusive Nihility beckons her towards self-annihilation, yet she subtly holds its reins. He had developed from childhood this supposed virtue of stoically enduring pain, and it surely served him during his exploits, which earned him the fame of a great hero, for not even among the Arabs had anyone known how to withstand the harshness of the desert in such a way.’” - Naranjo on SP4 acheron comes from a world where she had to endure the death of all the people of her planet one way or another; either they died from being killed off, or they died due to the black hole their planet orbited. thus, she followed the path of nihility, believing there was no point to life and her sacrifices as she lets herself die slowly while following the path of nihility in order to find some compensation and meaning in life. acheron’s resistance is her virtue. acheron also cites how she has come to penacony to truly discover herself and who she was. while we know part of her backstory, acheron doesn’t; it’s been so long that she has forgotten who she used to be. thus, she walks alone and suffers alone, on a never ending search for herself. in short, she focuses on her own self image and understanding much like an enneagram 4 would. i believe acheron’s envy is also quite present, though you really need to analyze her words in order to see it (which makes sense due to the fact that the SP4 is a counter type). acheron from hsr is an alternate version of raiden mei in hi3. she is raiden mei in a world without anybody by her side. upon meeting welt, all their words towards eachother are solemn; they recognize eachother. welt is from the original hi3 universe (or some variation very close to it honestly i need to brush up on my hi3 lore). welt details his experiences and stories from his world to her; the stories about kevin. in hi3, kiana, bronya, and acheron defeated kevin together. however, acheron states to welt that in her world, she killed that man alone. i think her envy in this conversation is subtle and passive; she now knows of a world where she could have had a happy life exists, but not for her. in summary, acheron suffers for the sake of self understanding and discovery. this is the epitome of SP4
