Pretty easily an extravert when contrasted with Cohle, who is always trying to anchor him into reality, and fundamentally opposes Cohle's nihilistic and overly-ontological viewpoint by preferring to simplify his own reality by pursuing the concretely sensuous experience. Marty is markedly more superficially happy and complacent because his psychological reality is simpler, which leads to its own unique problems. "You know the detective's curse? The solution is right under your nose but you keep looking at all the wrong details." "Infidelity is one kind of sin, but, my true failure was inattention." Marty summarizes the neurotic functioning of the SP9 pretty well with this one quote. In the sphere of conservation, indolence is enacted as a pursuit of novel objects and experiences.
