Marty Hart MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Marty Hart? Marty Hart is an personality type in MBTI, 8w9 - so/sx - 862 in Enneagram, SLUEN in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.

Pretty easily an extravert when contrasted with Cohle, who is always trying to anchor him into reality, and fundamentally opposes Cohle's nihilistic and overly-ontological viewpoint by preferring to simplify his own reality by pursuing the concretely sensuous experience. Marty is markedly more superficially happy and complacent because his psychological reality is simpler, which leads to its own unique problems. "You know the detective's curse? The solution is right under your nose but you keep looking at all the wrong details." "Infidelity is one kind of sin, but, my true failure was inattention." Marty summarizes the neurotic functioning of the SP9 pretty well with this one quote. In the sphere of conservation, indolence is enacted as a pursuit of novel objects and experiences. The excessive and meaningless engagement with activity, and even with thought, distracts the SP9 from their human experience, the solution right under their nose. He contrasts pretty significantly with Cohle as well, being at the top of the Enneagram while Cohle is at the bottom. Cohle is "poor in spirit," a nihilistic mess out on the outside, while Marty is complacent, preferring to see the good in others, sees himself as sociable, and optmistic. What is ironic is that both of them are liars. Marty parades as an optimistic man, but acts contradictory to optimistic ideals, while Cohle is outwardly ruminative and nihilistic, although behaving in a similarly contradictory manner. It is a yin and yang. The general aimlessness of Marty's character also nails the coffin shut on SP9. He is someone who does not know what he wants, and moves towards sensuous experiences in abundance in order to cover up his inevitable departure from his golden era of youth. In these experiences he searches for meaning, like Ichazo's "Seeker", while outwardly maintaining the traditionalist ego of the E9, an everyman who is slow, steady, and has it all under control. In reality, his life is chaotic, a fact he refuses to fix.
